Tennessee's newest state park, Clinch River Valley, protects 21 acres along one of North America's most biodiverse rivers around the historic Kyle Ford General Store. Adjacent is the Kyles Ford WMA. Not a two-fer, but the history here makes these activations work a visit.
Located in Roane County, at the confluence of the Tennessee and Clinch Rivers, Fort Southwest Point State Historic Park preserves and protects the location of a federal military fort built in 1797. This is Tennessee's newest POTA park.
First visit to Sierra National Forest (US-4466), activated right from our cabin at Tenaya Lodge on the edge of Yosemite. A stubborn intermittent short in a PL-259 turned the activation into a fight — and inspired a homebrew coax tester. I'll definitely be back.
